The Robson History Prize is an annual competition for Year 12 or Lower 6th students. The Prize was established in 2007 in memory of the historian Robert Robson, who was for many years a Fellow and Tutor at Trinity. The aims of the Robson Prize are twofold: firstly, to encourage ambitious and talented Year 12 or Lower Sixth students considering.Update from Australian Book Review - April 2020. Thank you to all those who entered the 2020 Calibre Essay Prize. Because of the pandemic and ABR’s general preoccupation following the Australia Council’s incomprehensible decision not to fund the magazine, deliberations on the Calibre Essay Prize have been delayed; but we expect to notify all entrants this month.The winner will receive a 12-month mentorship with a publisher at Hachette Australia. The format of this will depend on the winning writer but you can expect to receive an assessment of the three chapters that you’ve submitted, feedback on your writing style, a discussion around who your target audience might be and regular phone calls to check in on your writing progress.
The Philosophy Essay Prize is open to Year 12 or Lower 6th students. The aim of the Prize is to encourage able sixth formers to pursue their interest in Philosophy, with the hope that they will be encouraged to read this or related subjects at University.In September 2017, the Gavin Mooney Memorial Essay Competition was re-launched as a grants process, and as a joint project of the University of Wollongong, Croakey.org, and the online magazine Inside Story. The competition honours the work and memory of the late Professor Gavin Mooney, a health economist who was a tireless advocate for social justice in local, national and international arenas.
Melbourne is home to one of Australia’s most valuable literary awards, the Melbourne Prize for Literature. Others include the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards, given in five categories (fiction, non-fiction, drama, poetry, young adult), the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for an Unpublished Manuscript, the biennial Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Indigenous.
